I like the silk pyjamas. This gave me something to think about since I have a silk liner that I use to keep my quilt a bit cleaner, but the liner is superlight, which means narrow, which means its a bit challenging for the it-bands when you hike a lot of miles.
I dont use gloves. I have two pair of socks, so I can use one of them if my hands get cold, but usually cold hands is a symptom of a cold core, so warm clothes works for me … and I can pull my sleves over my hands.
What makes this setup super light is the shelter, and the fact that you dont need much warm clothes. The other parts of the pack have some less effective features.
No point having a frame at that weight, especially one that keeps breaking.
Cool idea with the sea to summit collapible cup used as a lid, but I still think that cup is too heavy. I dont even use a lid myself, does it really have much effect on the boiling time? A good idea is to use the soto titanium pot without a handle when you have that pot lifter, to save weight. Aslo, get a bic mini. my cup is the bottom quarter of the water bladder that came with sawyer squeeze … works like a charm at 7 grams (0,246 oz).
As you probably allready know, there are blowup pads that are both ligther and warmer at the same time.
Remember that your phone is also part of your electronics. I bought the lightest smartphone in the world, the unihertz jelly star (116 grams).
Your video also made me think about bringing toilet paper instead of only having a 4 gram (1,14 oz) bidet.
My bear safe and food and soap weighs 8.7 lbs. Can’t carry foam. Summer nights here are 40 F. Winter is below Zero. I use an Exped Downmatt, its either 8 or 9, like 3 pounds but worth it. The lightest Arctic sleeping bag is over 4 lbs. My tent is about 12 lbs either Mt Hardwear (lots of holes now) or Noth Face Mountain. I do use a bag liner. I do carry sleep underwear and extra socks. I live in Alaska. I used to have silk baselayers from REI , they wore out, so I am in Merino.
Thanks for the tips on the Meals, going to try some of them out, would like to save 2 ounces per meal vs the Peak meals. Hopefully I enjoy them. Cheers
Diddy bag 😂
Thank you for showing the food, great video.
