  1. Awesome job on this video.

  2. Get your pack adjusted correctly, if you didn’t do it before don’t be embarrassed getting some random you bump into on the hike to help adjust it for you.
It’s a difficult thing to do on your own, more difficult when it’s fully laden, and everyone will be happy to help get it on you right..

  3. Two things you don’t include regarding foot blisters which I think are important. I rarely have blister problems.
    1. Two layers of socks. When at school in England in the 1970s, our sports teacher advised us to always wear two socks on each foot when doing sports, whether running, football, gym, etc. This is so that most of the friction occurs between the two socks instead of between your foot and the sock. I always wear double socks for long distance walking – a thin inner sock and then a thicker warmer outer sock.
    2. When I started hill walking in the UK in the 1980s, it was standard to ALWAYs wear boots that support the ankle. (in those days they wre heavy leather – before the invention of wonderful Goretex). The ankle support of course reduces the risk of ankle twisting, but also reduces the general strain. I never thought of this, but I believe that by holding the ankle tight, it reduces the movement of the foot within the main part of the boot.

Yeah, maybe skip the beer, even in cans. I pack an aluminium container of liqueur port for quiet nip with my evening coffee.

  5. I used to get blisters frequently on long hikes. I spoke with someone who had hiked for many years and they suggested putting vaseline on my feet, and paying attention to applying a good covering around the toes. Been doing that for a while now and no more issues with blisters!
