Boots can be extremely useful in areas with a lot of moisture. Nobody wants to step in mud or walk through wet grass wearing those little sneakers.
And Bring a Gun
Trail runners are light and maybe you won’t get as tired. If it’s wet rocky rough terrain you might need a lightweight boot to keep from injuring yourself.
In Canada you need boots
Boots are a requirement for a lot of the trails in the UK. The peaks of Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike are rocky AF and you WILL injure yourself.
